Downtown Portland gets a makeover!
Beginning this week, Portland Public Services crews are conducting their annual “PDD (Portland’s Downtown District) Blitz.” From April 27th to May 8th, Public Services crews will be assigned to the downtown area to perform a wide variety of services including sidewalk repair, bench and crosswalk painting, litter pick-up, graffiti removal, tree planting and mulching, and much more. Street patch work, flower planter preparation and bus shelter window cleaning will also take place during the ten-day cleaning blitz.
• Over 12 miles of sidewalks in the Old Port and Arts District area will be swept and repaired.
• Over 1000 parking meter and street light poles will be painted – along with 160 trash cans.
• Over 20 damaged street/traffic signs will be replaced.
If you are downtown, please keep your eye out for the public services crews and thank them for all their hard work!
