Our apologies for the cancelled Alive at Five but have no fear, we will be adding another day onto the end of the series. The band is to be announced but we certainly hope that the weather will be a little less gloomy. Here are some other great things happening this weekend…
Friday: Pier Revue. Wilco and Conor Oberst. Sold Out.
Sadly this concert sold out fairly quickly. So we apologize for getting your hopes up. If you’re going, we’re jealous. The reason we’re highlighting this concert is to bring attention to the fact that Portland yearns for more national acts. Don’t get us wrong we have the best local music in the country but sometimes we deserve a big name. With the demise of the State Theater it’s great to see some bigger names back in the state.
Saturday: Urban Epic Triathlon. Throughout Portland and Maine State Pier.
The race will be starting around 8 AM and the party will be starting soon after. This is one of the best triathlons in New England and that’s because it’s in downtown Portland of course. The swim goes off the East End beach and the run and bike go around Back Bay and through Portland. This is the first year it will end at the Maine State Pier and we can’t think of a better place to finish. There will be live music, food, and booze starting around 10 AM. We can’t think of a better way to support the athletes than waiting for them with a frosty beverage. More info http://www.urban-epic.com
Sunday is looking quiet this weekend so we recommend packing your Saturday full. This Saturday is also the Vegetarian Food Festival from 11 – 3 at the East End School. At Port City Music Hall Carbon Leaf will take the stage. As Alive at Five alumni we are always happy to see this great band back in town. Enjoy your weekend! See you next Thursday.
