First of all, thank you all for making the last Alive at Five one of the most rocking of the summer. It was great to go out on such a positive note. We can’t wait to see everybody next year.
There are a bunch of great things to do this weekend.
Friday: Dirty Dishes Burlesque Review. One Longfellow Square. 7:30 & 10. $8.
Another installment of One Longfellow Squares popular drag shows. These are always filled with great characters and great laughs. With two shows this weekend it is a great way to either start or end your night.
Saturday: Kwenu Celebration. Brown Street. Noon – 5. Free.
The African Arts and Cultural Museum is holding its annual festival on Saturday near its location on Brown Street. You can usually hear this event a block away from all the drumming and great music. Different vendors will be offering traditional African crafts and food. This is a great chance to expand your cultural horizon without ever leaving Portland (because who would want to). This will also be the day that the first big cruise ship arrives downtown, so don’t panic. Just remember that everyone is here to enjoy Portland, even if they do walk a little too slow on Exchange.
Sunday: Cinque Terre and Vignola Harvest Dinner. Grand View Farm. $85.
So this event doesn’t technically take place downtown but it does feature two of our favorite downtown restaurants. We can’t blame them for wanting to get out of the city while the weather is nice. This dinner will be at Grand View Farm in Greene. You can explore the farm and the beautiful gardens before sitting down to a wonderful seasonal meal. Included in the price is round trip transportation from Vignola. You can’t beat that, dinner and a designated driver. Call Cinque Terre for reservations 347-6154.
