The Maine Comic Arts Festival is not your typical comic book convention in that there are no dealers selling books but the artists themselves showing and selling their work. This years featured guests include Jeff Lemire (DC Comics writer/artist of “Sweet Tooth”), Skottie Young (Marvel comics artist for “The Wonderful Wizard of OZ”) and Brian Wood (DC Comics writer of “DMZ,” “Northlanders” and “Demo.”)

This event is happening for the second time in our City thanks to Casablanca Comics owners and show organizers Rick Lowell and Laura O’Meara. The started the festival in 2009 as a way to promote comic art and allow the public to meet the folks behind the comic book pages. Since last year’s show was a success it was decided the event would be come an annual must!”The response was so overwhelmingly positive from the people who attended the show that we knew we would have to do it again.” says Lowell.
